The military has a modern tradition of paying for many different types of postsecondary and graduate-level education programs for individuals who are willing to serve in the armed forces after graduation. Attending medical school in Haiti may be less expensive than attending medical universities located in other parts of the world, but the impact of the country’s political unrest should be considered, as it affects the safety of both visitors and Haitians.
If they were going to make another investment in education, I would think the Brethren would favor adding more undergraduate or trade schools in order to provide basic education to more people rather than sink a whole lot of money into a higher education for a few hundred.

As a general rule, all state-run medical schools in the country administer it on the same day, whereas all privately run medical schools administer it on another day, so that a candidate may take the test once for state-run schools and once for a private school of his or her choice, but no more.
While spots for IMGs are very limited and some specialties are not available for them at all, international students who graduated from US medical schools are taken almost the same way as any other US med school graduates (there are only some visa-related restrictions, so the competition for residency is little higher, but otherwise it’s basically the same).
